Welcome to Colorado Cancer Counseling!
I’m Melanie. A Cancer Counselor, Psychotherapist, and 10 year Cancer Survivor dedicated to helping you not only survive cancer, but to THRIVE!
My work (and this website) is devoted to providing you the guidance and support that you need to be successful on your cancer journey.
You have found Colorado Cancer Counseling because cancer has impacted your life. I am so glad you are here!
Anyone who has been touched by cancer can tell you that the experience can be emotionally devastating. It is so common for people with cancer and their loved ones to feel overwhelmed, disoriented, anxious, and scared.
Even after treatment for cancer is finished, it might not be clear what to do next.
What does life look like after cancer? You probably don’t feel like the same person you were before your diagnosis!
I think that most people believe that they can manage the difficult emotions that come with cancer on their own. And when the journey becomes overwhelming, unpredictable, or confusing, they blame themselves for not being mentally strong enough.
But, I want you to know:
If you are struggling, it is NOT because you are weak! These difficult emotions are, unfortunately, a very normal part of having cancer.
A cancer diagnosis is one of the hardest things a person can go through, and I want you to know that it’s okay to need a little help.
here’s how i can help
As a cancer therapist, I will provide you with the skills, tools, resources, information and support that you need to not only survive cancer, but to THRIVE!
I provide cancer counseling for individuals with cancer, as well as caregivers, family members, and loved ones.
I am an EMDR trained therapist. EMDR can help to diffuse your distressing memories of cancer.
I offer a 4-Session series called Living Well with Cancer: Cancer Skills Clinic that will give you the skills you need to successfully navigate your journey through cancer.
I can connect you with the incredible resources that are available to the cancer community.
I am a cancer survivor myself! Not only do I bring a high level of education and training to my work, I also bring a decade of experience actually walking in those shoes.
